gingerbread dough

Preheat oven to 370°F.
On a floured table, roll out the dough to a thin sheet.
Use a cookie cutter to cut out shapes.
With a sharp knife, cut an opening to the edge of each cookie.
Bake for 3–6 minutes, depending on the size and thickness.
While the cookies are still warm, enlarge the openings a little.
Let cool.
Decorate with royal icing.
